Video upscale

Model output is mostly 720P. Before you can publish it anywhere, or slow a stretch of it down, it has to be scaled up, with a few frames filled in along the way. DOTV's video upscale is for exactly that: three sets of settings, and once you submit, a new node lands to the right while the original clip stays put. This section covers what to pick in each set, and what happens after you submit.

Three sets of settings

Select a video node, click Edit on the toolbar — Upscale is the first entry — and this panel opens:

The upscale panelResolution up to 1080P / 2K / 4K, Frame interpolation to 30 or 60 fps, Slow motion at 1x / 2x / 4x (turn interpolation on alongside slow motion).
Resolution, frame interpolation and slow motion, with the credits this run costs underneath.
Setting Options What it does
Model Topazlabs The only one wired up so far
Resolution 1080P / 2K / 4K Which step to scale up to
Frame interpolation Off / Up to 30 fps / Up to 60 fps Fills the frame rate in so motion runs smoother
Slow motion 1x / 2x / 4x Stretches the clip out into slow motion

After you submit

Submitting creates a new video node to the right of the original, and fills the finished clip in when it is done. The job runs in a queue, so it can take a while; meanwhile the Edit button on the original node's toolbar spins, and that entry in the menu reads Working. Go do something else — you do not have to sit and watch.
