Editing the picture

Once an image is out, the next thing you usually want is to change the picture itself — extend it, swap one part of it, take something out, keep only the subject. In DOTV all four live under the Edit dropdown in the image node's toolbar, with no round trip through another app. None of them touches the original: each one creates a node to the right of it to hold the result, with a wire running over from the original, so every version you go through while creating an AI video is kept.

Where to find it

Select an image that has finished generating and a toolbar floats above it. The button with the arrow on the right is this group, and it opens seven: Upscale, Outpaint, Repaint, Erase, Cut out, then after a divider Element edit and Layer split. Upscale is covered in 3.4; Crop is not in this dropdown — it has its own button in the row of icons on the right of the toolbar (also 3.4).

The image node toolbarIt only shows when you select an image node that has already generated. Everything in this chapter starts from this bar.
You only get this toolbar with an image selected. The button with the arrow shows whichever one you used last.

How each of the four works

What you want Which one What you do first
The frame is too small, extend it Outpaint Drag a box on the image that may run past the original. What the box covers is the extended canvas; the original part stays put.
Replace one part of the frame Repaint Paint over the part you want changed, then write a line about what goes there.
Take something out of the frame Erase Paint over the part you want gone and it runs — nothing to write.
Keep the subject, drop the background Cut out Nothing to prepare, it starts the moment you click.

The mask layer comes with Brush / Marquee / Eraser, a width slider and undo/redo; the outpaint layer lets you drag the box out past the image in any direction. Both put a confirmation bar along the bottom of the frame, cancel on the left and submit on the right (with what this will cost in credits).

  • Write the prompt in your own language; it is translated to English for you before it goes to the model.
  • The result node is named after where it came from, like "original · Outpaint", so you can see at a glance which image it came off.
Try it in DOTVReading only goes so far: open DOTV and make an AI video with the feature this section covers.
