Home and all projects

Once you sign in to DOTV, every AI video creation starts on this page: one film is one project, and a project holds its canvases, its media and its finished cuts. This section covers creating a project, opening one, tidying them up with folders, and the difference between a personal space and a team space. How you create once you are inside the canvas starts at 1.2.

Workspace

Signing in drops you into the workspace. A nav rail runs down the left, the current page fills the right. Home, Projects and Skills all live inside this shell; open a project and the canvas takes the whole screen.

NavigationFive destinations; the last one, CLI, opens in a new page. While you are inside a canvas this still highlights Projects.
1 / 3
The Projects page: the nav rail on the left, every project in the current space on the right.

Top to bottom, the rail holds:

  • DOTV — the wordmark at the top left; click it to go back home. The button right next to it collapses the whole rail into an icon-only strip, and expands it again; while it is collapsed the header shows the wordmark instead of the page name.
  • New project — creates a project and takes you straight into its canvas.
  • Home / Projects / Skills / CLI / MCP — five destinations; the last two, CLI and MCP, each open in a new page. Projects are managed on the Projects page.
  • History — your 20 most recently created projects, each row a thumbnail and the name with a second line saying when it was created; one click and you are back in the canvas. This is the fastest way back to where you left off. The caret next to the heading folds the whole section away, and the funnel on the right changes the sort: by Date created or Last edited, Newest first or Oldest first; the default is date created, newest first.
  • Help — the help entry at the bottom of the rail.

Create a project

Three places:

  • The New project button at the top of the left rail.
  • The first card in the project grid, Start creating.
  • The prompt box in the middle of the home page — write what you want to make and send it; it creates the project first, then carries that sentence into the chat on the canvas.
“New project” in the left columnCreates a project and drops you straight into the canvas — no second step to open it.
1 / 2
The button in the left rail and the first card in the grid are two doors into the same thing.

It spins for a few seconds and then drops you straight into that project's canvas — no need to open it again by hand — and a new project always lands on the Chat side. The project is created in the space you are currently in: click it inside a team and you get a team project.

Open a project

  • Click a card's cover or its name on the Projects page.
  • Click an entry under History in the left rail.
  • Choose Open from the card's ⋯ menu.
Click a cardEither the cover or the name opens the project.
1 / 2
Cards and History in the rail both lead into the canvas.

The project card

A card on the Projects page has three parts:

  • Cover — with no cover set, it is built from the project's most recent images: one to three side by side, four in a 2×2 grid. A project with no images yet shows a placeholder icon.
  • Name — click it to open the project. When you rename, this line turns into a text field; type and press Enter.
  • The ⋯ menu — it appears when you hover the card, at the right end of the name row, and holds every management action.
Cover, name and dateWith no cover set, one is stitched together from the project's most recent images; a project without a single image gets a placeholder icon.
1 / 2
That last Untitled project has not generated any images, so its cover is the placeholder icon.

The date along the bottom of a card is the day the project last changed; the Projects page itself is ordered by date created, newest first.

Manage a project

Everything below lives in the ⋯ menu to the right of the project name.

Start hereRename, Change cover, Make a copy, Move to folder and Delete project all live in the ⋯ to the right of the card's name.
The ⋯ to the right of the name holds the management actions (normally it only shows on hover).
What you want How
Rename it Choose Rename; the name row turns into a text field, type and press Enter.
Change the cover Choose Change cover and pick one of the project's own images. After that it stops auto-building.
Copy it Choose Make a copy; canvases and nodes come along, and the original is untouched.
Put it in a folder Choose Move to folder, then pick one. A project already in a folder also gets Remove from folder.
Delete it Choose Delete project; once you confirm, every canvas and node under it goes too.

Tidy up with folders

Once you have a lot of projects, use folders to group them by client, by quarter, or by film.

New folderNew folder at the right of the header creates one — just give it a name.
1 / 2
Folders and projects share one grid.
  • Create one — New folder at the top right of the Projects page; give it a name.
  • Put projects in — choose Move to folder in a project card's ⋯ menu.
  • Look inside — click the folder card. The page title becomes the folder name, and Back at the top left returns you to all projects.
  • Rename one — a folder card has a ⋯ of its own too (it shows on hover), with three entries: Open, Rename, Delete folder.
  • Delete a folder — that entry in the ⋯ menu above, or open the folder and click Delete folder at the top right. The projects inside are not deleted; they go back to All projects.
  • The import button in an empty folder — step into a folder with no projects yet and two buttons sit in the middle: Import project/file and New project. Project-file import is not open yet: click it and it says plainly "Project-file import isn't available yet. Create a project first, then import images, videos or audio from the canvas." — and New project underneath is that step (in a team space it also points out Import from personal as a way in).

Personal and team spaces

The Projects page only shows projects in the space you are in. Switch spaces from the account menu and the page title follows: personal space is All projects, a team space is the team's name plus team projects.

The heading is the current spaceThis is what a team space looks like: the heading changed from All projects to Changfeng Creative's team projects.
1 / 3
The heading tells you which space you are in.
  • A project belongs to whichever space you were in when you clicked New project.
  • A team space has an extra Import from personal button at the top right, which copies one of your own projects into the team.
  • Imported projects land at the root of the team's All projects, not in any folder.
