Key elements

Every film has a few things that keep coming back and have to stay consistent: the lead's face, the street the story happens on, that pair of running shoes. Mixed in among the dozens of images in the Image column, they take a while to dig out every time you want to compare against one. Tag them as Key elements in DOTV's storyboard and they all gather into the small block at the top of the side column, there whenever you need to check — character consistency in an AI video comes down to being able to line every shot up against these few images fast. This section covers what to tag, how to tag, and how to use the block.

What to tag

Four categories; pick one as you tag:

  • Characters — a character's sheet (face, full body, wardrobe).
  • Scenes — that street, that room, that overpass.
  • Props — props that appear on screen, and the product itself.
  • Other — anything that fits none of the three above, a color reference for instance.

Audio can be tagged too (the theme tune, one character's voice) — it is just as much part of what this film is set up to be, and its tile shows a note icon plus a duration.

How to tag

First item under ⋯Hover to open the submenu and pick a category: Characters / Scenes / Props / Other. Whatever it is marked as gets a check here, and one more item appears: Clear key element.
The ⋯ on a card and the one in the detail header are the same menu, and this is its first item.

Go in through the ⋯ on a card (or in the detail header), choose Set as key element, then pick a category. Once tagged:

  • It shows up in the block at the top of the side column.
  • That category is ticked in the same menu, and a Clear key element item appears — back out from here if you tagged the wrong thing.

Using the block

This patchEverything you marked gathers here: a thumbnail and a name. Click one to open its details.
1 / 3
A thumbnail tile plus a line for the name; the button above filters the block.
  • Click a tile to open its details, exactly as clicking a full card does.
  • Hover a tile and a button appears in its top-right corner that brings this piece into the chat in the right panel (see 11.6) — most useful when you want the agent to generate from this sheet.
  • View by category — All / Characters / Scenes / Props / Other, to see just one kind.
  • Narrow it to a group too — the same filter the columns use: show only what sits in one group on the canvas.
  • Drag to reorder — the order here is yours to set, so put the lead first.
  • With nothing tagged it reads No key elements marked yet and shrinks to a thin strip, so it never wastes room in the side column.
Try it in DOTVReading only goes so far: open DOTV and make an AI video with the feature this section covers.
