Rename, duplicate, delete

Every item in DOTV's storyboard has a ⋯: one on the card (it only shows on hover) and one in the detail header, and it is the same menu. Four entries: set as key element, rename, make a copy, delete. This section goes through them one by one — in particular what a copy copies, and what a delete takes with it.

Rename

Click Rename and the name line above turns editable; press Enter (or click elsewhere) and it is saved.

It renames the node, so the canvas side changes with it.

Make a copy

You get an identical item: same picture, prompt, model and references.

  • The copy lands a little below and to the right of the original node on the canvas (copy several times and they stagger instead of piling up).
  • In the storyboard it sits right after the original, not at the end of the column.
  • Handy when you want to try another prompt but keep the version you have.
  • Group containers do not have this entry.

Delete

  • It asks first: the dialog reads Delete "the item's name"?, and the red button is Delete.
  • Press ⌘Z right after and it comes back (deleting a node counts as one step, see 10.2) — the dialog says as much. Once you have piled other actions on top, it is too late.
  • Delete from the details and the details close themselves first (otherwise they would be sitting on an item that no longer exists).
